What began in 1999 as a modest attempt by co-founders Dean Motes and Mike Thraen to service a few clients is now RSCS: a full-service commercial and industrial refrigeration construction and service company specializing in the design, installation and maintenance of high-grade industrial ammonia and C02 cascade refrigeration systems.
Our Team
Dean Motes – President and Founder
Dean Motes describes himself as having a passion for the industry” while those around him say he has a passion for his family, faith and friends (plus “a healthy dose” of sports!).
Raised in Thatcher, Arizona, Dean grew up working on his family’s farm, playing football and eventually following a career in “the trades” – settling on a career in refrigeration. He founded the first version of RSCS in 1999 thinking he’d drive his truck, “take care of a few customers” and earn his living as a contractor. As business began to take off, Mike came on board and RSCS was born.
Today, RSCS is a full-service commercial refrigeration construction and service company specializing in the design, installation and maintenance of industrial ammonia and C02 cascade refrigeration systems.
Michael Thraen – Vice President
Mike was born in Salina Kansas but has spent most of his life in Phoenix, Arizona. Family, business and life balance are extremely important to him.
Mike handles services and projects in many states including AZ Ca NV Utah Texas Indiana and where ever else he is required. Mike brings a ton of experience having been in the business since 1983.
Eric Patterson – South Texas Manager
Eric Patterson is a family man who claims to have Ammonia in his blood. Raised in Phoenix, AZ, Eric started with RSCS in 2005 as a member of the Construction Crew. He wanted to really get his hands into the equipment, so he became a Certified Ammonia Technician and has since mastered Ammonia Service and Troubleshooting and specializes in Ammonia / CO2 Cascade Systems. Today, Eric manages our Texas Clients.
